Airtel Sucks

April 25th, 2009

It started off with me changing my handset to Nokia E-51 somewhere at the end of March. What followed was an endless complaining and cribbing that I did. That’s all that airtel allowed me to do.

Having got a brand new phone, I did what most people under such unfortunate circumstances do, call up their service provider for assistance! I called up your Customer Scare number and asked for the airtel mobile office settings and mms settings. Turned out it was too much to ask for. Just because I was an Airtel Customer that didn’t give me the right to ask for the settings right?

I know its good to surprise the customer with your service and stuff but that doesn’t mean you don’t do what I ask for and keep doing something else! I kept asking for the Mobile Office and MMS settings and they kept giving me airtel live settings. And my MMS didn’t even function for many days. Even if they activated it in between for small intervals they would activate the wrong schemes. Schemes which I asked for were never activated. After loads of complaining to the airtel customer centre they BARRED my 121[customer care] calling! That was actually very considerate. This way I wasn’t getting anything done but at least nothing wrong was happening!

Even visits to the gallery were about as helpful as calling 121. They assured my GPRS, MMS and 121 being barred issues will be taken care of. But even after two weeks of literally stalking them, they kept shifting me from one scheme to another.

The worst was when I asked for the nodal office number from the airtel gallery. They gave me a WRONG NUMBER. A number that didn’t exist. I was given the wrong nodal office number TWICE. Nope I didn’t make up this number, I didn’t get it from an imaginary friend, but your Airtel Gallery people gave it to me from a poster on the wall there.

Finally after calling customer care from my friends or dads cell [since my customer care was barred] I managed to get the correct nodal office number.  I spoke to a nodal officer who assured me that all my problems will be solved within a few hours.

It’s been three weeks now and my prayers have been partly answered. Buddha had smiled and my 121 was started just yesterday. My mms is still not functioning even after for the 50th time asking them to
activate the said scheme. I guess I will have to pray to another God for that one.

Specifics-
GPRS- Wanted mobile office 249 rental plan. Airtel live was activated.
After which mobile office zero rental was activated. Why do I pay for airtel
live or a mobile office plan that I didnt want?

MMS- Was activated for a limited period with 0 rental scheme wherein I would have to pay rs. 5 for per mms [I must have sent a few during that interval].
Whereas I wanted rental 99 scheme. Also in the period that it was activated it was so moody. It would send mms to mobile phones but not to email ids.

Customer Care- Was barred for nearly two weeks. Which service
provider does that. I was told it gets barred for maximum a day if a
customer CALLS FOR TIMEPASS.

Gallery- wasnt of any help with activating customer care.
Also GAVE ME THE WRONG NODAL OFFICE NUMBER.

Retention department- since I got so bugged after the way I was troubled that I asked them to discontinue my number. I got more calls from the retention department than my mother calls me during a day to check on me. All calls were to ask me why I wanted to discontinue and every time I had to explain to them right from scratch why I want to discontinue my number. And they behaved like complete you know what when they BARRED MY OUTGOING WITHOUT INFORMING ME because I wanted to discontinue my number.

Nodal office- as I mentioned earlier I was given the wrong number. Finally when I got the number I spoke to shital from the nodal office who solved only my gprs problem and nothing else. I suppose it was more than a week back. After which whenever I have tried to call them the number was busy. Isn’t nodal office the last resort and isn’t it supposed to solve my problems within two hours.

All this happened in a month when I am extremely pressed for time and have a lot of work stress. Contrary to what impression you may have from the amount of time I had to pursue this issue, I actually do have work to do and and a life to live.

I am told I am a valued customer which I think I am as I generate a decent amount of bill and pay it regularly too. If management would pay less to saif and kareena and spend a little more towards improving their service I would really appreciate.

Also I DO NOT WISH TO PAY THIS MONTHS BILL. If they charge me despite troubling me so much I would be more than willing to move on to another service provider.

A VERY VERY troubled customer

PS- I am sure I have not been able to express my frustration in this write up. I have definitely been troubled more than what it appears on the blog.

Confessions of a Shopaholic

March 18th, 2009

“Black gown sounds best for the party. All I need to shop for is matching shoes. There is a sale in Her Corner store, would find the perfect bag there. Oh my god, I do not have the right accessories. Ok, all I need to do is swipe each of my credit cards for 10 dollars each and avoid the calls from the debt collector and lie to my best friend and lie to the love of my life and I am all set. Oh yes….I need the green scarf for the gown. It’s a desperate urgent need.”

This says it all. The movie totally revolves around Rebecca Bloomwood, the Shopaholic struggling with her temptations to shop and how it makes her lose all that’s important to her. The story starts off with her shopping, shopping and more shopping. She leads a double life. On one hand she writes on money, investment advice, finances and all that. On the other hand her shopping bags keep piling up and so do the bills. And before she realizes she has created a credit monster that threatens to destroy every beautiful thing in her life. Then starts a roller coaster, funny yet emotional, ride as Rebecca realizes she has to take control of her life and reclaim all the things that mattered to her.

Like all lovely girlie movies this one has a happy ending too. What really makes one enjoy the movie is….there is an awesome collection of clothes, bags and shoes shown. The guy Luke Brandon is reaaally cute, honest and integrated. The movie has its share of funny moments. And most of all ‘There is a little bit of her in every girl.’

PS- Had a ball with all the other female bloggers post the movie. Ideasmithy , PunkpolkadotsRgcpapillon and Prajakta.

Celeb Facebook Profiles- Authenticity

March 11th, 2009

Though orkut has the masses, facebook seems to have the cream. Most celebrities choose to interact with their friends, co-actors, directors, singers etc through facebook. Most of all they are there to interact with their fans. Almost all of them have a good number of friends on their list. Obviously they do not know all of them. So I presume they have loads of fans on their list.

Since I am in the Online Presence Management for Celebrities space I thought it would be interesting to share with you guys which of the CELEB profiles on facebook are genuine.

The authenticity has been checked out through various ways-

• Personal contact
• Reporter friends who have interacted with these stars
• Contacted the celebrities and received response from them over phone.

So in parts I will put their profile links on my blog for you to add them [if you want to that is].

The names are in no particular order.

UTV needs writers [college students]

February 19th, 2009

HI,

Here’s the deal – UTV’s coming out with this college website. It’ll be a website that’ll get everyone all the dough about your college – everything from the motto and canteen food to who has made the most awful project last week. Get the drift? So we’re basically hunting down good writers, artists, photoshoppers… basically anyone with any second-look-worthy talent are welcome. And as a plus, those who partake in this activity can not only pride themselves in being their college representatives but also win prizes, movie tickets and collectible in the longer run of the website.

If you can get me information on students who are actively involved in your colleges/institutes in MUMBAI, BANGALORE OR DELHI, that will helpful, .. also, if you know people from the Mass media department if your college as one, that will be great! And if you are one of them, GREAT! Let me know…

From you, I’ll need numbers and/or e-mails of students who are great writers, who are on the student council board, photographers, mass media students, and the number of one official admin on the college who’s got all the info as to college data base… [even if you don’t know anyone, you might know people, who might in turn know other people who are involved even the alumni… ]

Really appreciate your help towards this… please reply back with you college details and contact number of anyone whom you know currently in the colleges you are in, was in, or live around.. you can get in touch with me at: hiral0930@gmail.com

Chadiis for Sri Ram Sena this Valentines!

February 10th, 2009

pink-chaddis

Loved this post i read on a blog of a twitter friend.Thought shud post it on my blog too.

Alright girls it’s time to take out all those pink chadiis (underwear) and throw them at Sri Ram Sena’s sick faces. No I haven’t been hooked to booze lately. The Pink Chadii Campaign has been kicked off by a bunch of girls with brains ,called Consortium of Pub-going, Loose and Forward Women, on Feb 5, 2009. It’s a fun way of fighting back at men who think the world must be girl-free. As per these kind of men, girls must not indulge in pubbing or clubbing as it’s not a part of our Indian culture. Yes our Indian culture does include these men doing the same thing and also beating the crap out of innocent women just trying to have a little fun.

The campaign aims to send pink colored chadiis to Sri Ram Sena for their immense love shown to the women in Mangalore and their broad perspective of the place women deserve in out culture. In addition the girls behind the campaign have also planned a Pub Bharo movement. Very interesting! I’m packing up my pink chadiis and sending it off.

Cheers to all the Indian girls out there!

Check out more details on the campaign’s official blog.

WordPress for people like me

February 3rd, 2009

I am writing this post for two of my very curious friends. After seeing my blog they were so excited and wanted me to explain them how I got the blog up and working.

You know what the strange part is. I was always the one who kept asking my friends- what is hosting space. How do I register a domain name etc etc. NOW people are asking me questions. And I am loving it. I guess it’s a circle. Someone helps me, I help someone else, someone else helps someone else and on and on.

So for these two curious friends of mine I will explain in detail how I got my blog working.

Webhosting space-

I don’t know if that’s what it is exactly called. But I do know that we need to buy the space online so has to host our blogs/websites on it. After inquiring I came to know that Dreamhost is where I should buy my online space.

Psst- I bought it only coz Mayank has bought it from there and I would get a discount if I would use the code he has been given from dream host. And I get a nice 50$ discount. And mayank gets some extra features too. So my friends I think you should buy online space from dreamhost too.
Also if we get stuck someplace we know we can get help from mayank.

Ok back to the point-
Dreamhost.com.
Click sign up.
Host a domain
I would like to pay- yearly
Select Register a new .com/net [it’s free, which means you don’t have to pay extra 10$]
Pick First Domain to Host: www.ankitagaba.com
Pick First Server Username- ankitagaba
My contact Information-Fill in your details
I agree
Proceed to payment
Fill in your credit card details. And there you go.

You will receive all the details through a mail. Which will include FTP details, password, name servers. Don’t worry I didn’t know what these meant either. But gradually you would.

Now that you have online space you can register a domain name and install wordpress. No not as easy as you think it is. Once you have bought the space ill tell you how to install wordpress.

Costing
It cost me 69$ for a year. They charge 119.40$. With the 50$ discount, thanks to mayank, you can buy it at 69 which turns out to be around Rs. 3500. [I assumed dollar rate to be Rs. 50 per dollar]

Hope this helped.

Lots of love to both my friends and others.

My First Post

January 29th, 2009

Not an easy task. Blogging.
Most of you who know me personally know what I do now. I help people, to be specific, prominent personalities create, manage and promote their blogs.

Sometimes I used to find a few of them in a dilemma as to what should go on their blogs. I would wonder why is it so difficult to decide what your blog post should be. I mean after all you need to do is either write about your life or something that you find interesting.

However now that I have my own blog……I realize it was not that simple after all. ESPECIALLY when your blog would be read by many.

But that’s my entire point. Celeb or no celeb, famous or not famous…..what comes on your blog should be instinctive. And here when I say blog I mean personal blog.

This is my first post on my personal blog and I PLAN to have many more. But I always say and believe LIFE IS SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS TO YOU WHEN YOU ARE BUSY MAKING OTHER PLANS. So don’t plan a lot just go with the flow.
